CREATIVE RESOURCES FOR TEACHING ANGLES

Hello everybody!!

In today's post, I am going to talk about creative resources teachers can use at school to teach the angles types and how to measure them.

  1. Using the door and the floor. I think to use the furniture in the classroom to show how angles are in our daily life is a very creative idea. I would ask my students to help me indicate the degrees on the floor, and we will use it when we first explain angles and later on for solving doubts when they need it. It is an easy resource because it does not need many materials, except tape and a pen to write the degrees on it, and it can always be in the classroom, even if you are not talking about angles at the moment.
  2. Student's angle creator. Everybody can create one of these, and it is very practical to individual use, just to see the angles in a very visual way, and improve comprehension. The materials students will need for the creation of this resource are wood plane sticks, paint to colour them and velcro to be able to form any angle you desire.
  3. Magtastix game. This is a very popular game that includes little magnetic balls and magnetic sticks, which can be used in class to create plain and 3D figures. It is very useful because with them you can create any figure you want, even round ones.
  4. Using an "Abanico". I never thought about this idea, but we can indeed use this object to explain angles, and it is an object everybody has at home, so it is not expensive or difficult to find. Anyway, another posibility would be that the students would create their own "abanico" made by paper.
